Executive Team
Shane August has seen venture capital from all sides, first in the financial services industry and later as an entrepreneur himself when he launched his first company in the home healthcare space. Following a successful exit, he rolled his operational experience into a series of other ventures culminating within the August Holding Corporation, a venture fund dedicated to investing in and supporting companies in the industries where he found success as an entrepreneur. As CEO, he oversees all aspects of firm governance, investment activity and portfolio management.
Shane has developed and grown businesses that started on just $11,000 to over $1.2 million in annual revenue and has recently guided the organization through its first acquisition. Professionally, CoVaBiz (Coastal Virginia Business) magazine named Shane one of its Millennials on the Move and he was named one of 2021’s Top Sports Wagering Executives by Business Insider.
He has also completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program and is a graduate of the University of Virginia’s Weldon-Cooper Center for Public Service Sorensen’s Institute for Political Leadership.
Rudolph L. August, Jr.
Director, Chairman of the Board
As an expert on local and regional water management, Rudolph L. August Jr. has been working closely with federal, state and local government officials for more than 30 years. He spent two decades in environmental enforcement with the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans before helping to rebuild the city’s water system after Hurricane Katrina as Chief of Networks responsible for the maintenance of underground pipe, including piping associated with the wastewater collection system, the potable water distribution system, and parts of the storm water drainage system.
With August Holding Corporation, his deep experience in government at both the state and national levels has helped the firm as it has entered and operated in regulated industries such as healthcare and gaming. Rudolph holds a B.S. in Petroleum Technology from Southern University at New Orleans and an A.S. in Civil Engineering from Delgado Community College.

Yolanda Edmonds-Thomas
Member, Board of Directors
Mrs. Thomas early career focused on working with nuclear technology with the Department of Energy. From there, she went on to work as a risk consultant and project manager with the firm ABS Consulting, Inc. supporting engineering firms and government entities performing risk-based investment modeling and root cause analysis. Mrs. Thomas’ professional career also includes time spent at ADP, a Fortune 500 company, located in Norfolk, VA where she was selected into the competitive Emerging Leaders Program. Mrs. Thomas current role is Vice President, Senior Operational Risk Analyst where her duties include identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk for a regional bank.
Greg Gill
Honorary Board Member
Gregory R. Gill, a seasoned financial executive graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1968. He then served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. From there he transitioned into the financial industry and began his career in finance with the Royster Company, a fertilizer company that would bring him to Virginia Beach, Virginia.
From the Royster Co., Greg then went on to serve as the Chief Financial Officer of the Western Branch Holding Company for more than 20 years founding several other companies in the region within the manufacturing and distribution sectors.
Greg has an extensive background and expertise in helping companies and organizations foster sustainable growth and profitability across multiple industries.
